The Royal Decree 1892/2008 establishes the structure of University Entrance Examinations, which will be the only one in force from academic year 2009-10.
The objectives of University Entrance Examination are the following:
assessment of the students' academic maturity,
assessment of the students' knowledge and capabilities acquired during their upper secondary education and
assessment of the students' capability of continuing university education successfully.
and, in any case, they are based on:
general objectives of upper secondary education
objectives, contents and evaluation criteria of common and track subjects
The structure of the University Entrance Examination consists of two parts:
Genral Phase
it is compulsory
it consists of 4 common and 1 track subjects
sucess in entrance examination depends exclusively on the mark got at the general phase (along with the average mark of the upper secondary education (Bachillerato)
Specific Phase
on a voluntary basis
it consists of track subjects related to the studies intended to be taken by the student
it allows students to upgrade the final mark to enter university studies
